Three Mothers at the Movies

Three mothers each have their own daughter. They decide to go to the cinema with all of their daughters.

When they reached the cinema however, the ticket booth tells them that there are only five seats left for the show. The mothers, however, buy the tickets, and find a seat for everybody.

How is this possible?

Answer

One of the mothers is also a grandmother. So, one of them is both a mother and a daughter.
