Tricky riddles with answers are both tricky and crafty. They are not straight forward, requires logic reasoning and you could be fooled if you are not sharp enough.

Peas and Lentils

A poor farmer went to the market to sell some peas and lentils. However, as he had only one sack and didn’t want to mix peas and lentils, he poured in the peas first, tied the sack in the middle, and then filled the top portion of the sack with the lentils.

At the market a rich innkeeper happened by with his own sack. He wanted to buy the peas, but he did not want the lentils.

Pouring the seed anywhere else but the sacks is considered soiling. Trading sacks is not allowed. The farmer can’t cut a hole in his sack.

How would you transfer the peas to the innkeeper’s sack, which he wants to keep, without soiling the produce?

A man phoned his daughter to ask her to buy a few things he needed for a trip. He told her she would find enough dollar bills for the purchases in an envelope on his desk. She found the envelope with 98 written on it.

In a store she bought $90 worth of things, but when it was time to pay she not only didn’t have $8 left over but she was short. By how much was she short of cash, and why?

A girl has stolen two bars of solid gold, each weighing 18 pounds, and is running away from police. On the path she is on, she comes up to a rope bridge with a sign saying that the rope bridge can hold a maximum weight of 130 pounds, and that if any more weight is placed on the bridge it will collapse.

The girl knows her weight is 100 pounds, so she walks across the bridge carrying both gold bars, and the bridge does not break. How is this possible?

Two Villages

A traveller comes to a fork in the road which leads to two villages. In one village the people always tell lies, and in the other village the people always tell the truth. The traveller needs to conduct business in the village where everyone tells the truth. A man from one of the villages is standing in the middle of the fork, but there is no indication of which village he is from. The traveller approaches the man and asks him one question. From the villager’s answer, he knows which road to follow. What did the traveller ask?
